To Set Aside for Our Practical Possession

Below you will find a post about the subject appropriation. This is a subject that has hunted me for more than three years now. This is a brief stab at a large subject lost in Christidom right now.

Appropriation is defined as To set aside for our practical possession something that already belongs to us

2 Corinthians 2:9 – but just as it is written, “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Ephesians 1:3 – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,

To Appropriate

  • To see what is already ours in Christ Jesus and to be aware of our need for it
  • Ephesians 3:8-10 – To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God, who created all things, 10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.

Every bit of truth we receive, if we receive it lovingly, will take us into conflict, and will be established through conflict – T. Austin Sparks

  • Philippians 3:8-11 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
  • Romans 8:15-1715 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

The greatest level of struggle is to give the necessary time to work what has been appropriated into our every day walk – Miles J. Stanford

  • 2 Corinthians 4:16 – Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.
  • Matthew 11:28 – Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
  • Isaiah 64:4 – For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, Nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him.
  • Colossians 1:19 – For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him
  • Hebrews 3:14 – For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end

Seven Areas of Daily Prayer and Consecration

  • Ephesians 4:1 – I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called?
  • 2 Corinthians 2:9 – but just as it is written, “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him.”
  • Galatians 2:20 – I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
  • Romans 8:15-17 – 15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! • Ask Father for a Key Verse for each area so that your prayers, faith, and hope may be rooted in the Word of God.
